Hauptstadtrepräsentanz (HSR)
Deutsche Telekom has kindly agreed to be the lead patron of ICIN 2010. They will be hosting the first day of the event as well as the Gala Dinner at their Berlin Representative Office the Hauptstadtrepräsentanz (HSR).
Deutsche Telekom’s Berlin Representative office is located in the heart of Berlin and unites modern technological infrastructure with a rich sense of history. The building has been important for German telecommunications since the 19th century as the former residence of the Imperial Head Office of Telegraphy. The first telephone line in Germany was established on the site in 1877. Today the sympathetically renovated building embodies innovation with a transparent facade and modern steel construction.
Keynote presentations will be given in the Atrium of the Hauptstadtrepräsentanz featuring a mobile high-tech LED wall measuring approximately 20 m2.
The Hauptstadtrepräsentanz is situated in Berlin Mitte at the corner of Französische Straße and Oberwallstraße. Detailed instructions on reaching the Hauptstadtrepräsentanz by public transport from Berlin’s main train station and airports can be downloaded here.
Conference Hotel: Park Inn Berlin-Alexanderplatz
The conference hotel for the ICIN 2010 conference and workshops is the four-star Park Inn, Berlin’s largest city-hotel located in the heart of Berlin's Mitte district, right on the legendary Alexanderplatz. This hotel is where the delegations of the Warsaw Pact countries were accommodated before the reunification of Germany. It has been extensively renovated over the past few years. Full details of the hotel and its facilities can be found at www.parkinn-berlin.de.
Alexanderplatz is Berlin’s most famous square and the site of the Alexanderplatz demonstration for political reforms of 4 November 1989, one of the largest demonstrations in East German history and, according to Wikipedia, a milestone of the peaceful revolution that led to the fall of the Berlin Wall and German reunification.
1989 was also the year that saw the launch of the ICIN conference.
The Park Inn Berlin-Alexanderplatz is within walking distance of top attractions such as the Brandenburg Gate, Museum Island, the TV Tower, Unter den Linden and the Reichstag. Also within walking distance are Hackesche Höfe Berlin's arts scene with restaurants, bars, galleries and boutiques, and Prenzlauer Berg Berlin's popular night spot with trendy clubs and bars.
The Berlin Airport Express train (RE4, RE5) from Schönefeld Airport stops at Alexanderplatz, just 100 metres from the hotel. Journey times are approximately 20 minutes. The TXL bus runs a regular service between Tegel Airport and Alexanderplatz. Journey times average 40 minutes, depending on traffic.

There are numerous direct flight connections between Berlin and major German and European cities. For historical reasons intercontinental direct flights to Berlin were limited in the past but the number of destinations served directly is now increasing steadily.
Berlin is currently served by two international airports. Tegel Airport located in the north-west of the city 16km from Alexanderplatz is the main airport for national flag carriers and a hub for domestic flights. Bus TXL from Tegel International Airport runs directly to Alexanderplatz. Tegel Airport does not have a railway station. Schönefeld Airport, the former East Berlin airport southeast of the city centre 23km from Alexanderplatz, is the base for many budget airlines and charter flights in addition to traffic from Eastern Europe. Schönefeld Airport is served by Airport Express trains that run to the centre of Berlin in less than half an hour.
